The Festival des Musiques Emergentes in Abitibi-Témiscamingue is back for its 22nd edition from August, 29 to Septembre, 1st. For this occasion, FME and MUTEK are collaborating in an electro night featuring Marie Davidson and Kaya Hoax.
Kaya Hoax straddles the line between hip hop and experimental pop, drawing inspiration from UK grime, dancehall, and punk. Over a blend of magnetic percussion, raw synthesizers, and booming 808s, the artist delivers fiercely independent verses interspersed with flashes of total vulnerability. Following a handful of notable performances in Quebec, including a standout show at POP Montreal (highlighted by CULT as one of the festival's best), she is set to unveil her debut EP "Baby Gear" in May 2024. Armed with hyperactive choruses, captivating basslines, and ear-catching melodies, Kaya Hoax offers electrifying music infused with irreverent feminine energy.
Marie Davidson is an electronic music performer, DJ, singer, and songwriter. Active for over a decade, Davidson is known for her unique vocals, diverse sound palette, and dynamic performances blending hard-hitting percussion, sharp synth melodies, and catchy punchlines. She has released music under her name and as Essaie Pas on labels like Deewee, Ninja Tune, and DFA Records. High energy and playful, her Dj sets are best suited for raves or late night clubs.
