Lydia YakonowskyCA/QC
Lydia Yakonowsky is a multimedia artist, trained as an economist . She deconstructs and repurposes visual elements from economic theory-based charts to create immersive, original works that challenge and reshape the utility of economic modeling. The result is a vast statistical choreography where dismantled grids, wandering parabolas, and strings of data intertwine. Her first dome film, Introduction to Econometrics, won a special mention from the Jury at SAT Fest 2022 in Montreal.
Lydia Yakonowsky CA/QC - Trajectoires interrompues et autres modèles de déséquilibre transitoire
Film
In this second short film, Lydia Yakonowsky explores sudden and involuntary changes in a projected trajectory. We see alternating bursts of grids with scattered data points, graphic models entangled in the gear of colossal spirals, and mathematical lace whose meaning seems to shift with the light. It's a wild commentary on economic forecasting models as well as on periods of major changes and personal upheavals.
