Siete CatorceMX/US
Known for his hybridization of Mexican and Latin American influences with deep club sensibilities, Siete Catorce stands out with inimitable rhythmic syntax. After living in Oakland, California until his teenage years, he returned to Mexicali where he was influenced by the local Asian culture and his cousins' hip-hop music. It was in isolation and at desert raves that he began experimenting with different genres of electronic music. His career took off when he remixed Celso Piña's Cumbia Poder, catching the attention of the global bass community. His style is marked by a fusion of cumbia, dubstep, and pre-Hispanic tribal sounds, influenced by the Ruidosón movement.
Siete Catorce quickly rose through the ranks of Mexico's electronic scene, performing at renowned festivals like MUTEK Mexico, Boiler Room, and Festival Nrmal, and receiving acclaim abroad. His music reflects his personal experiences, imbued with introspective depth and a dark yet festive energy.
